Working as part of the wider veterinary community is essential in helping to manage programmes for national disease control and fits completely with our RAFT ethos of working with our networks to achieve a better end result for the farmer.
In 2010, we started a pilot BVD control scheme in Nidderdale, thanks to funding from RDPE managed by LANTRA in Yorkshire and Humberside. This programme was extended into the Coquet Valley through LANTRA North East and Alnorthumbria in 2011 and working with the AHDB, helped secure a national BVD programme with RDPE funding in 2012. RAFT Solutions and XLVets Training Services Ltd managed the national delivery of the ‘BVD Free’ campaign, organising BVD workshops and seminars across the industry and involving 127 vet practices up and down the country, as well as producer and processor groups, including Kite, Arla and Asda.
We also helped manage the veterinary training for the BPEX Real Welfare programme, organising Workshops for 220 Red Tractor approved pig vets in a six month training event to help contribute towards this important national initiative.
